Fix Cannot Open Attachment in Outlook Error

Part 1: Fix Cannot Open Attachment Error in Outlook 2013

If you meet the error that fail to open Microsoft Word attachment files in Outlook 2013, you can try to disable protected view from the Word settings. To do this, please follow the steps below:

Step 1 Open Microsoft Word and click on the file menu to choose "Options".

Step 2 On the pop-up window, please go to "Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > protected view". Now, please uncheck "Enable Protected view for outlook attachment"(or just check all the four options in the interface). Then click on the "Ok" button.

After that, you should go to Outlook 2013 and try to open the Microsoft Word attachment files again. The error should be fixed and you can view the attachment normally.
