What Google Home device disappoints me most may be its tone quality, which sounds a little too incisive and you would not like the tone if you listen to some bass music. In contrast, Echo has a much better tone quality and you would enjoy a wonderful bass part with its speaker. Of cause the two gadgets are not good enough for its tone quality when compared to the stereo. Fortunately, you can wirelessly connect them to a real stereo. Google launched the matching stereo audio - Chromecast Audio (priced at 35 dollars), while Amazon launched the Echo Dot (priced at 50 dollars) as the matching stereo.

So in the feature of tone quality, Amazon Echo acts better than the Google Home. No matter for the user experience in the tone itself or the matching stereo.



Third-party Applications and Services

Actually, both the two speakers have a lot of functions like playing media contents, checking information for you, voice controlling your smart home and so on. But with third-party applications and services, they can work with more features. So far, the third-party applications and services that Google Home can support are still relatively limited. You can sync it with some popular music services such as Spotify or Pandora. It cooperates with Uber as well. But except these applications or services, you can not find out any other anymore.

Amazon Echo, in the other hand, was released about one year earlier then Google Home and now it supports hundreds of applications and services including Amazon Device Messaging, GameCircle, Developer Promotions Console and so on.

Design

Which design is better and which is not good enough, is simply a matter of opinion. Actually, the Google Home device looks like Air Wick, a popular air refresher, in in some respects but its design is more thoughtful and more convenient to use. The Google Home device, with the slope design on the top, is pretty small in appearance and it would surely save the space on your desk. Please picture the Home device in a completely cylinder, and it is no doubt that the whole appearance would looks really dull. Luckily, Google gives it such a unique shape and it is so beautiful just like a decoration in your home. What’s more, you can also choose different colors of the grid for the bottom of the Home speaker.

On the other hand, Echo looks like a pure black or white cylinder for its appearance design, giving a cold, stereotyped feeling when we place it in our house. Though the lights on the top of it make it better for its design, many people may not really care about this detail.

Generally, people may choose Google Home device instead of the Amazon Echo if only to consider about the appearance design.



Intelligent

We all know that with its technical background, Google has tons of services such as Gmail, Calendar and so on and the major business of the company is to create intelligent stuff. For instance, the new digital assistant- Google Assistant helps a lot in the way of connecting Google Home device to the services, which attract thousands of users thought it is a new assistant when compared with Amazon's Alexa or Siri from Apple.

Echo can also sync with Google Calendar and other services, but it is not as simple and sophisticated as Google Assistant. And I believe that Google will be able to make Assistant / Home more intelligent and faster than the Amazon Alexa / Echo for the upgrade.

I think intelligent is the most important indicators than can judge the two devices. As a user, the reason to purchase a smart thing is mainly because of its intelligent feature.
